How to configure the cost of free delivery on my dropshipping business

The aim of the following article is to show how to configure the cost of free deliveries for certain products on your dropshipping e-business. In just two steps you can establish a price or weight above which delivery will be completely free for your clients.

When incorporating free carriers into your shop, you have to take into account whether you have more than one currency configured in your shop, or if currencies different to the euro show up.

In the case where the only currency in your shop is the euro:

  1. Go to Shipping > Preferences (1)
  2. If you wish to make postage free once a certain order total is reached, fill out the field in point 2.
    • Example: If you wish to make postage free for orders of €50 and upwards, type in 50.
  3. If you wish to make postage free once a certain order weight is reached, fill out the field in point 3.
    • Example: If you wish to make postage free for orders of 5 kg and upwards, type in 5.
  4. Click on Save (4).

In the case where you have the euro and other currencies in your shop:

  1. Go to Shipping > Carriers (1).
  2. Click on Add New Carrier (2).

You will see 4 different sections. Let’s see how to fill them out.

General settings (1)

  • Carrier name (2): Name of the new carrier.
  • Transit name (3): Transit time.
  • Speed grade (4): By default, write 0.
  • Logo: The carrier’s logo.
  • Tracking URL: Tracking number of the carrier.

Lastly, click on Next (7).

Shipping location & costs (1)

In the paragraph Shipping locations and costs fill out the following fields.

  • Add handling costs (2): YES (recommended)
  • Free shipping (3): Always NO.
  • Billing (4): Choose the one you prefer:
    • According to total price
    • According to total weight
  • Tax (5): Choose the option you prefer:
    • No tax
    • ES Books Rate (4%)
    • ES Foodstuff Rate (4%)
    • ES Reduced Rate (10%)
    • ES Standard rate (21%)
    • ES Super Reduced Rate (4%)
  • Out-of-range behavior (6): Choose the option you prefer:
    • Apply the cost of the highest defined range
    • Disable carrier
  • Ranges (7):
    • If you want to offer free shipping from 50€, you should write:
      • Will be applied when the price is >= 0
      • Will be applied when the price is < 50
    • (8): You must apply the shipping cost that you want to add to products with a price below 50€. For example: We apply 5€ to Europe and 10€ to Europe (non-EU).
  • Click Add new range (9) in order to create a new range for the remaining prices. Repeat the point 7 with the ranges >= 50 and < 1000000 in order to cover all product prices; repeat as well the point 8 with cost 0€, just as you can see on the imagen below:

      • Click Next.

Size, weight, and group access (1)

Fill out the shown fields.

  •  Maximum package width (cm) (2)
  • Maximum package height (cm) 3
  • Maximum package depth (cm) (4)
  • Maximum package weight (kg) (5)
  • Group access ( 6)

Click Next (7).

Summary

In this section you’ll find a summary of the information you have just completed about your carrier.

In order to end and finish creating the carrier, click Finish.
