How to sell on Instagram with your PrestaShop online store

If you have a PrestaShop online store and want to increase your sales on your Instagram business profile, this article will show you how to do it.

Requirements for synchronising your PrestaShop online store with Instagram

As you already know, Instagram belongs to Facebook, so to publish your products on this social network you need to publish your catalogue through your Facebook page.

  • Have a Facebook page with the Shop option activated. Click here to find out how to do this.
  • Have a business profile on Instagram with the Shopping section activated. Here is more information on this.
  • Have a PrestaShop account. If you don’t have one, you can create one here.
  • Have a Business Manager account. To create one, click here
  • Have the webpage that you want to synchronise located within the Business Manager that you are going to use.
  • Have the PrestaShop Facebook module installed in your PrestaShop online store.

Installation and configuration of the PrestaShop Facebook module

To be able to synchronise your online store product catalogue with the Instagram social network you will need to install the PrestaShop Facebook module. Below, we show you the steps you need to take to do this.

  1. Install the PrestaShop Facebook module

On the control panel for your online store, go to Modules > Modules Catalogue.

Use the browser to search for the module. You can find it easily by using the word Facebook. Install the module.

Once installed, go to Modules and click on Configure. You can also find this in the left-hand menu in Marketing > Facebook.

  1. Connect your PrestaShop account to your Facebook account

To do this, click Connect on the module. If you already have a PrestaShop account, log in with your username and password. If you don’t have an account, you will need to create one.

Then, connect your Facebook account from the same module configuration. Click on Connect to Facebook  to select the account that you want to connect to.

Facebook will automatically detect your Business Manager accounts, from where it will manage the Facebook Pixel, the adverts and your catalogue. Select the Business Manager account that contains the Facebook page on which you want to publish your catalogue.

Then select the Facebook page on which you want to publish your catalogue.

To finish, select the catalogue that you want to display to your customers on Facebook. If you don’t have one, click on Create Catalogue.

In the following steps, you will also be able to select your advertising account and the tracking pixel that Facebook has installed (this way, you can manage your Facebook adverts).

  1. Export your entire catalogue to the Facebook catalogue

You can now export your catalogue to Facebook from the Products Catalogue tab.  On this PrestaShop screen, Facebook automatically detects the products that are available to synchronise and those that give an error message, so that it can be resolved.

Once you have exported the catalogue to Facebook, you will be able to view it in 24 hours by clicking on View Catalogue.

If the catalogue does not appear on your Instagram account after configuring everything that is required in the module, you can add it from the Shopping section in the Instagram business profile.

  1. In Instagram, open the business profile option and go to the Configuration section.
  2. Select Business > Shopping and then confirm your Facebook account.
  3. Select the product catalogue that you have created and that you want to connect.
  4. Tap the Done button.

You now have the catalogue for your PrestaShop online store on your Facebook page and on your Instagram profile. If you need any further information, you can view the following PrestaShop video tutorial.
