How to synchronise Magento through the Multi-Channel Integration Platform

All about Magento: registration process, platform management and synchronisation through the Multi-Channel Integration Platform

Below, in this article we show you how the platform operates and we explain, step by step, how to work with Magento and BigBuy. Here, you will find everything you need regarding product integration in your Magento store through the Multi-Channel Integration Platform.

IMPORTANT!
Remember that, to ensure that it functions correctly, the server for your online Magento store should comply with some minimum requirements.

  1. Install the BigBuy module for Magento

Before starting on the integration in Magento, you will need to activate an eCommerce Pack. Go to your Control Panel>Multi-Channel.

Once in the Multi-Channel Integration Platform, go to the menu on the left, eCommerce Software option where you will see the Magento section. To add a new store click on the blue button with the “+” symbol.

In the blue box on the right, click on the “Download” button to download the Magento module. Once this has been downloaded, install it in your Magento store.

To install the module, follow the steps below:

  • Decompression and insertion of Magento

Once downloaded from the Multi-Channel Integration Platform, insert the module into the app/code root folder of your Magento (it may be that the code folder does not exist, so create one if necessary). Then, insert the zip into the file and decompress it.

  • Entering commands

Then, position yourself on the root of your online Magento store (e.g. /var/www/html – /var/www/vhosts/nombre/httpdocs) via SSH and enter the following commands:

The following command is responsible for installing the module via the Magento tools:

php bin/magento setup:upgrade

The following command stores the code within the Magento project

php bin/magento setup:di:compile

Lastly, this command installs the cron tasks for both Magento and for our module

php bin/magento cron:install

PLEASE NOTE:
You may find that when executing the command the php version loaded in bash is inferior to the one required by Magento. For this reason, you should either update the php version of your bash (php -v to check that version) or use your own server’s php commands, whether Plesk or an alternative, so that it reads a higher PHP version.

  1. Configuring Taxes and languages in Magento

Configuring the taxes and the languages of the online Magento store is an essential requirement for synchronising correctly with the Multi-Channel Integration Platform.

Configuring Taxes in Magento

You need to create your main tax in Admin Magento > Stores > Tax Rules.

Within this tax you need to add one or more tax rates for your online Magento store.

Configuring Languages in Magento

You need to have the Main WebSite Store created within Admin Magento – Stores – All Stores.

Once this has been created, to add a language, you need to create a Store View. The chosen language Code needs to be added with the isoCode for the language in question (es, en, it, fr…).

Lastly, in your Main WebSite Store View, you need to configure the chosen language as the default language.

IMPORTANT:
If the default ISO language code is not entered correctly, the synchronisation process may not be performed correctly.
  1. Check that you fulfil the minimum requirements to be able to use the Module.

In order for the BigBuy module for Magento to work correctly, your online store should comply with the following requirements

  • Magento version > 2.3.0 (latest verified version 2.4.1)
  • PHP version > 7.2

IMPORTANT
The server for your Magento online store should also meet a series of minimum requirements. Find out what they are here

Other essential requirements:

IMPORTANT
In order for your Magento online store to function correctly, the Flat Catalog Category and the Flat Catalog Product options need to be disabled. Click on Catalog > Storefront. Select “No” in both options to disable them.

  1. Synchronising the catalogue with the Multi-Channel Integration Platform

Once the minimum requirements have been met and the previous configuration has been carried out, you can then begin synchronising your store from the Multi-Channel Integration Platform.

In order to synchronise your Magento store with BigBuy, you need to connect the Multi-Channel Integration Platform product catalogue with Magento. Do this by completing the field relating to your website url and your WordPress username and password.

Go to Multi-Channel Integration Platform > Softwares Ecommerce > Magento and click on +.

Once there, you will see different elements:

  • Alias: This is the name with which this store will be identified.
  • Url Magento: In this section you need to enter the URL for your store (remember to include the http:// or https://).

Add the url for your store and click on login. Enter the login credentials for your online Magento store and click on approve.

You will once again be directed to the Multi-Channel Integration Platform.

LANGUAGES AND TAXES

Once you have entered your credentials, click on Continue and go on to the next step: languages and taxes.

It is necessary for your online Magento store to have configured the taxes in the way we indicated on step 2 of this article.

In Multi-Channel Integration Platform, you will need to relate each of the Standard, Reduced and Super reduced taxes to some of the taxes created in your online Magento store. This may be the same tax, if you only have one store, or different ones.

In terms of language, the your store’s language is selected as the default. If you want to change this, you need to change it in the adjustments for your store and return to the Multi-Channel Integration Platform to update it.

PUBLISHING THE CATALOGUE

At the synchronisation step in the Multi-Channel Integration Platform, choose the categories that you want to publish.

If you want to learn how to perform the category selection you can find out via this link.

As well as selecting the categories, brands and products that you want to publish on your online Magento store, you can also customise the texts for SEO, and the menu categories. Choose the option you want in each case.

In the same way, you can select the videos for those products that contain them in their descriptions so that they are visible above or below this.

PRICING STRATEGY

Once you have chosen the categories to publish and have configured the shipping costs, it is time to establish the price margins.

All the information is available for you in the following article:  How pricing rules work.

PUBLISHING PRODUCTS

Once you have defined all the previous stages, you can publish the catalogue by clicking on Publish.

After it has been published, check that the products have been created on the Magento platform. Click on Catalogue between the back office and your store to check this.

Now that you have published the products, you can start to sell in your store.
