If you sell on the internet, it is impossible for you not to be familiar with Google Shopping, a virtual catalogue of products that are displayed each time someone performs a search on Google. The visibility this tool offers products is unimaginable and, for years, it has helped millions of users to increase their sales.

So, after eight years of existence as a paid platform, Google has announced that it will be free throughout the world as of next year; although it is already available in the USA and this helps us to know what the future of Google Shopping in Europe will be like. Consequently, anyone who sells online will be able to give visibility to their products thanks to this tool.

What has led Google to make this decision?

According to Bill Ready, President of Commerce at Google, to The Verge digital magazine:

“What we’re seeing is that there are many, many retailers and small businesses that stand ready to show their products to shoppers, but don’t yet have a good way to connect with them digitally”

The Coronavirus pandemic has forced Google to accelerate the process of launching these changes that had already been considered in the company some time ago. As part of the endeavour, Google has reached an agreement with PayPal so that sellers can link their accounts and accept payments more quickly.

Rumour has it that this is Google’s way of competing with big marketplaces like Amazon, Carrefour or Fnac. Although the announcement says that this option will be available for free, it is also true that charging companies for appearing at the top of the search results hasn’t been ruled out.

How is it configured?

Obviously, Google is not going to allow just any product to appear in its catalogue and certain requirements will need to be met in order to get through the filter. In order to be a part of Google Shopping, it is necessary to sign up for Google Merchant Center, which is the same as the current requirements if you want your advertised products to appear in the search engine. If you would like to know how to sign up, this post from our Academy will explain everything in detail.

Learn all the details step by step of how to configure Google Shopping, so you can use it to sell with your dropshipping store.

Have you ever done a Google search and been shown a series of products at the top of the screen? That’s Google Shopping, the ecommerce tool that Google offers businesses to get closer to their customers in the most direct way. Some of these ecommerce sites already have a dropshipping store with BigBuy.

In the tutorial How to sell BigBuy Products through Google Shopping we offer valuable information on how to start selling in Google Shopping. We recommend that you take a look at this if you are thinking about using this handy tool. It works really well as long as you do the work and optimise campaigns efficiently (and that includes dropshipping stores such as BigBuy).

But let’s go through this step by step. How do I start selling on Google Shopping? First of all you will have to get to know the tool through which sales are managed in Google Shopping: the Google Merchant Center.

What Google Merchant Center is and how it works

Google Merchant Center is the tool that Google provides for the creation of Google Shopping campaigns. We can link to our Google Ads account or we can create a Google account from scratch. In any event, we must keep in mind that we have to verify the domain through Google Webmaster tools.

The information about our dropshipping store will be extracted from the Google Merchant Center when selling on Google Shopping. Google Shopping is the Google platform where our potential customers are going to find us.

To set up a Google Merchant Center account, verify it and create the data feed, (or our catalogue for example) you will have to follow a few simple steps.

How do I create my Google Merchant Center account?

The first thing we have to do to start selling on Google Shopping is to enter the Merchant Center and register. To do this we only need to click on “Register” and fill in the data as requested.

We must correctly select the country where our online store operates from and keep in mind that to sell on Google Shopping we must make shipments to the entirety of Spain, as they do not specify according to region.

Your store name may not contain promotional information, or any additional suffixes (such as Inc., SL, TM, or the like). It must be something short that represents the name of your business.

If your dropshipping store sells products relating to adult content, it is important to tick the appropriate box and read the restrictions that Google has for this type of content.

In addition to the main contact, Google Merchant Center allows us to add two different contacts: one for technical matters and another for customer service. This point is very important if our dropshipping store has a technical and/or customer service department.

By clicking on “Continue” the terms and conditions menu appears, in this case concerning Google Merchant Center Spain. We click that we agree with the terms and conditions and click “Continue” again.

How to verify my website

To sell on Google Shopping we must now verify our dropshipping store or ecommerce website. The first step is to enter the URL of our website.

Click “save” and the page will tell us if our domain is verified or if someone else has already claimed it. If our dropshipping store is not yet verified we must do so in order to be able to start selling on Google Shopping. We have many options for this and we can choose the one that best suits us. The usual way is to check through an HTML file. In this case, we would only have to download it from the link and upload it to our site, it’s as simple as that. If we are not sure how to verify our domain, we can consult Google on exactly how to do it, especially since verification through an HTML file may not be the most suitable method for our domain in particular.

We can also verify our dropshipping store domain through other alternative methods. The Google Merchant Center Wizard offers three:

Through the HTML tag. We have to be able to edit the HTML code of our website in order to do this. The first thing to do would be to copy the code that Google generates for our site and paste it onto the home page. If we want to verify that everything is correct, we must re-enter the “website verification” menu and enter the address of our domain in the “website url” text bar. If the site is now verified, instead of stating unverified as it did initially, it will now indicated “verified” with a green tick.

It is also very important that we do not delete the code after verification, as we would lose our Google Merchant Center verification.

Google Analytics. We can also check our dropshipping store website through Google Analytics. It’s simple to do, but we’ll need to have editing permission on analytics. We access the analytics account from the Admin tab, open the “account” column and then click on “properties”. From there we click on “tracking information” and “tracking code”.

The Google Analytics tracking code is used only to verify site ownership. Google Analytics data will not be accessed

Google Tag Manager. To use this method we first have to make sure that our website uses it and that we have the required administration permissions. We verify the account from the Google Tag manager and then we only need to click (returning to the Google Merchant Center once more) “verify and claim” to verify that the verification is correct.

We’re almost there. To start selling on Google Shopping we still have the important step of uploading our product catalogue to the Google Merchant Center, which is called the data feed.

What is the Google Merchant Center data feed?

A data feed is a file that contains unique information about each product, within a product catalogue. To simplify this further, it is an Excel spreadsheet containing all the data on each of the products in our dropshipping store. This sheet is imported to the Google Merchant Center and hence feeds the application which provides the information on each product in Google Shopping. This feed, as its name indicates, feeds data to Google Merchant Center.

Now that you know what the Google Merchant Center data feed is, let’s see how we can adequately prepare our product catalogue, or data feed, so that we can start to sell optimally on Google Shopping.

Prepare your data feed to import into Google Merchant Center

Contrary to how it may appear, Google Shopping does not get data from the different products that an ecommerce site puts on sale through the online store itself, but rather through the data that the user imports into the Google Merchant Center platform. For this reason you have to be very careful and meticulous when creating the data feed, because that information is what the client will see and what will help them make the decision about whether or not to enter our dropshipping store and make the purchase.

Depending on the size of your dropshipping store, you will have to use Google spreadsheets or create your own data feed, in a .txt file, for example.

Google proposes two options to upload the data feed and sell on Google Shopping. The first is to upload through text, an option that is recommended for traders with a small inventory and for new users. With a basic knowledge of spreadsheets you can make a simple file using Microsoft Excel or Google spreadsheets. If our dropshipping store is large, the second option is to set up the data feed by uploading an XML file.

Create your data feed

Enter the Google Merchant Center and click on “+ Data feed” to create the file that will contain your product list. The first thing you have to consider is that there are two types of attributes to sell on Google Shopping, attributes with custom values, such as “title” and “price”, in which you can customise the information and attributes you enter with standard values, such as “availability” (in stock, out of stock, pre-order) or “condition” (new, used and refurbished) with a set of predefined options. Some of these attributes are mandatory, but others are only recommended in order to optimise and improve your dropshipping store campaigns.

Once this is all sorted out, we can begin to register our dropshipping store data in order to start selling on Google Shopping. The first thing to do is to select the languages and countries in which you want to sell your product. Once the name is assigned to the data feed, you need to upload the feed using the chosen method. As we mentioned earlier, there are two ways to upload the data feed from your dropshipping store, through text or from an XML file.

To create the data feed from your dropshipping store through text, you need to use a spreadsheet editing programme, which may be Google or Microsoft Excel. Firstly write the names of the attribute in the first row, each one must be in a column.

The product information is found between the attribute values with the “< >” symbols.

In this useful article about Google you can find information on all the different types of product feeds that are available, the specifications of each one of them, the number of characters that you can use, how to define it for XLM and much more indispensable information that will help you get started selling in Google Shopping.

In order to sell a product from your dropshipping store on Google Shopping, it is important to know that there are three types of attributes. These are the obligatory attributes for all products, those that are only obligatory for certain categories, and the recommended attributes for specific countries.

If our dropshipping store is created through prestashop or similar platforms, there is a regular solution for uploading the online store product catalogue to the data feed. By downloading export modules from product catalogues to .csv, as can be done with Moussiq Free, we can export our entire catalogue on a spreadsheet. And by making some changes to it (setting the attribute names in the first row or modifying the attribute values to the character size that we need) we can create the data feed in a simpler and more comfortable way than from scratch. But it is important not to simply assume, but to review all the attributes, because if all of the information is not correct, Google will not accept the data feed and certain products from our dropshipping store will not appear for sale on Google Shopping.

Upload your data feed to Google Merchant Center

Once we have created our data feed by whatever method we have chosen, we can upload it to our dropshipping store from Google Merchant Center. To do this we have to select how we want to upload the feed and choose a scheduled recovery, which should coincide with the frequency of changes in our catologue.

To upload the data feed from our dropshipping store, we have to go to the menu on the left and click on “data feed” and then “new data feed”. We can select the type of import we want to make and select the file to upload. It may seem that everything has now been done, but there is still the most important part left: that Google accepts the data feed from our dropshipping store. If we have done everything right there should be no more problems and in 24-48 hours, we can start selling on Google Shopping.

Learn how to optimise your campaigns and sell in Google Shopping by following the information in this post, and get sales and quality traffic to your dropshipping store.

If you want to sell in Google Shopping the best thing you can do is to optimise your campaigns. Would you like to know how to do it? Take a look at this guide!

Selling in Google Shopping is a great option if you are looking for new customers and to diversify your market. In this post we’ll teach you how to create and synchronise your dropshipping store and to start selling in Google Shopping.

Now we’re going to give you some interesting options for you to optimise your campaigns.

Set your daily budget and CPC

Just as selling a pen and a computer in Google Shopping doesn’t create the same type of profits, your bids should be appropriate to your market, the products you sell, the competition, and your business strategy and goals.

That’s why it is very important that when you set up your dropshipping store campaign that you are very attentive to the results and to the return on investment. If you manage to dominate a lot of the market, your CPC may be too high and you would be paying Google more than you should, or your ads may not be well-segmented and you then may have to use negative keywords. If on the other hand there are no clicks on your ads, you may have been short on your budget and bid.

To set your daily budget and your dropshipping store CPC well, you not only have to analyse the results that your campaign produces, but also to figure out a strategy

Keep your data feed up-to-date

Selling in Google Shopping is not so different to selling in any other trade. If there is no product, there is no sale. The big difference is that in Google Shopping your customers pay to enter your dropshipping store when clicking on the ad, which means that your clients might enter your store and not find what they are looking for if you don’t have your data feed kept up-to-date.

Keeping the data feed up-to-date is vital, as well as taking care of product descriptions and using the keywords to define the product. Google Merchant Center offers optimisation tips that appear in the “Data Quality” tab. They are very useful when it comes to adding some quality to our dropshipping store data feed.

When selling in Google Shopping, it is very important that we be very precise when creating and updating our data feed. If not, Google will not display our products. We have to be sure that the URLs are real and not 404 pages, as well as paying attention to the details, such as that the currency we have selected is from the country where we are showing our ad campaign. Or if we have a plan to use Google Shopping for mobiles and our store is not responsive, then it probably isn’t optimised for mobile internet. The details are the key.

Quality of ads, optimising text and images

Google Shopping ads deserve the same care as any Google Ads campaign. Also, the texts have a maximum number of characters that we will have to keep an eye on if we don’t want our titles cut in half. The titles and descriptions should also be rich in keywords that will appear in searches, and we can also add negative keywords to avoid any unwanted matching.

Taking care of the images is also very important, as they are a key element in the success of campaigns. In order to be able to sell in Google Shopping we must upload high-resolution images and if possible that have no watermark, preferably with a white background and that focus on the product.

Modifying your bids

You can modify your product bids depending on location and seasonality. If you don’t want to lose money when selling in Google Shopping you must limit the visibility of your ads to only those audiences located in places that you distribute to with your dropshipping store. This way, you will avoid people clicking on your ads who can’t make a purchase in your store as you are unable to serve them.

You can also adjust the bid to the days and hours that best suit you. Over time you’ll be able to get to know your users better and know how they behave while accessing your dropshipping store. By evaluating your campaigns you will be able to achieve better results with less investment and work with Google Shopping in an optimal manner.

It is also important to take into account the seasonality of certain products when prioritising a campaign, since we can indicate which ads will be more or less important for our dropshipping store.

Differentiate yourself from the competition

Selling in Google Shopping from a dropshipping store is not always easy, because with many products the competition is so high that it prevents us from standing out in the market.

One option offered by Google Shopping is to include promotions in our articles. By adding promotional texts in our Google Shopping ads we can stand out ahead of the others, although we must make sure that this promotion is present on our website.

Another way to differentiate ourselves from our competition when selling in Google Shopping is by looking for, detecting and analysing new trends in our market. One of the advantages of selling in Google Shopping is that we can find out which words users have found us with, which will give us lots of clues as to how we should position our store.

In order to be able to highlight our products and to start selling in Google Shopping, it is essential to optimise the data feed and to work conscientiously with our dropshipping store information content. Get the most out of your dropshipping store!

In this tutorial you will learn what Google Shopping is, how it works and the advantages of selling on Google Shopping for your store.

If you have a dropshipping store and it is synchronised with BigBuy, or if you own an online business which involves e-commerce, then you have probably already thought about promoting your merchandise on an online advertising platform.

Google Shopping is a great option for dropshipping suppliers and it is, above all else, a very practical way to show off your products and to increase sales possibilities. Of course this service is offered by the technology giant Google, which has fantastic results, as long as advertising campaigns are organised efficiently..

But, let’s begin at the beginning: what is Google Shopping and what can it be used for?

As we mentioned above, Google Shopping is a service offered by Google, on the one hand for internet users, and on the other for anyone who has an online store. It is a way to put items up for sale. Internet users can very easily see the product they are looking for and compare prices between the different stores which offer it. Those who run online stores list the products which they want to promote and using a bidding system by product and category, they pay Google for visits to their online store.

It is very easy to to see what Google Shopping is all about. All that you need to do is to search for a product on Google and if that product is being promoted by any online business, then a comparison of the different stores offering the product with images of it attached will be shown.

It is a very simple tool since at a glance the user can see a variety of products related to their search and filter them by price, seller, showing only new products or sort by score and opinion of other users.

Nevertheless, what we are interested in here is how to help dropshipping store owners whose store uses BigBuy to sell using this tool and that is why we are asking:

How does Google Shopping work?

Below we will share a tutorial which will show you how to start using this tool for sales, just follow these steps:

Step 1: Create an account on Google Ads and Google Merchant Center

The first step to setting yourself up for sales on Google Shopping is to create an account on Google Merchant Center. Through this tool you can enter the characteristics relating to your store as well as those of the products which you have for sale. If you also have an Analytics or Google Ads account, you can use that to create this account since Google allows you to synchronise data between one account and the other. If you do not, you can also sign up for a new account.

Once you have you have done this it is time to verify your online store.

Step 2: Verify your dropshipping store on Google

Google Shopping requires you to verify your online store’s domain name and the products which will be sold on it. You will be offered various options to do this. You can use the one which suits you best, but we would recommend that you use another essential tool: Google Search Console.

Step 3: Prepare your sales catalogue

Once your business has been verified, it is time to publish the contents of your catalogue on Google Shopping, that is the data feed. Using these Google Shopping feeds, you can enter all of the technical information of the products into the tool including: ID, description, title, product name, category, price, photo and further options all have to be filled in.

It is important to pay attention to the details which could differentiate your products from those of the competition. For example it is important to write both the title of the product and the description using keywords which are easily identified by Google and make it easier for your customers to find your products. For example: your product is a wardrobe which is called ‘Amazon’, not many people will know your product by name, but a lot of people will find it through category or type of product (in this case ‘wardrobe’).

In short, you will need to enter data using an Excel spreadsheet which will then be processed by Google so that they can show the products from your catalogue to your potential clients.

Once the information has been entered into the feed, it will be sent to Google. If this is your first time doing this then we would recommend that you use the test mode first, so that you can fix any possible errors before releasing the your final version on Google Shopping. It is important to remember that Google Shopping is not automatic, that is to say that after you publish your feeds, it can take between 24 and 48 hours or even several days for them to show up.

Step 4: Create and optimise your first campaign

Once the product feeds for your drop shipping store are on Google Shopping, it is time to differentiate and optimise your campaign.

What do you need to remember to run the best Google Shopping campaign?

Set out your daily budget and the CPC (cost per click): how much are you prepared to invest on a daily basis and how much are you prepared to pay per person who clicks on your link? There are many variables involved here: product type, profit margin, quantity and quality of the competition… particularly at the beginning, we would recommend that you are very attentive to the results of your campaigns. If nobody clicks on your products, it means that, probably, your budget is too low and if you are hogging the market then it is possible that your CPC is too high and you are paying Google more than it is worth.

Use keywords: we have mentioned this earlier, but we must insist! Using keywords correctly in the product descriptions can significantly differentiate your site from the competition.

We recommend that you take a glance at this post to find out more about optimising your advertising campaigns and selling on Google Shopping. You will find some useful tips.

Step 5: Some final tips for getting the right CPC and tariffs

As with any business, the key to success when it comes to promoting your dropshipping store on Google Shopping is to know how to differentiate yourself from the competition. Here is some final advice to help you do just that:

Work out negative key words: just as you need to make the most out of your positive key words, you must also look out for negative ones, i.e., words which are associated with your products but which will not lead to a sale. For example, if you sell trousers, the search term “how to make trousers at home” will not lead to any sales, but you will still pay for clicks with no gain.

Work out search trends: Google Shopping lets you know which words users have searched for to find your products. This information will give you a good idea of how to write your product descriptions.

Adjust your offers depending on the day and timings: once they start spending money in your store you will get to know your customers better, and you will know their buying habits. Look at your campaigns so that you can work out the best (and worst) times during the week and adjust your offers and discount levels accordingly, and you will be able to reach sales targets that you never could have imagined before.

Now you know what Google Shopping is and how this powerful tool works, so get going and start selling now!

When it comes to the exciting world of online advertising and all the possibilities that exist throughout the network, it is nothing new to say that Google is the king.

Not only because they monopolise almost the entirety of the online advertising market, but because they offer more and better formats and systems so that any business is able to promote itself.

Google Shopping is one of the least-used e-commerce methods but one which is very effective. We explain what Google Shopping is in another post, but today we’ll talk about some of the keys to differentiating our campaigns from the competition, with the aim of making our ads look more attractive so they will generate more sales.

Before getting into these tips and tricks, it is important to emphasise that when we use Google Shopping this is not the same as Google Ads. There are details that make a difference, so if we are planning to invest in both Shopping and Google Ads, we would not go about these two in exactly the same way.

We will now review some of the tricks for making our Google Shopping campaign a success.

Study the market

If we do not know how the market or the completion operate for the product we are selling, we will never hit on the right Google Shopping campaign. In order to have all the information we need, we’ll need to do a thorough market analysis where we weigh up all the possible variables.

Doing a full market study is not complicated, but it does take time. The following are the key points:

Google results: do general and more specific searches about the products you want to highlight in your Google Shopping campaign. Depending on the results you see, you’ll know whether bidding for those words will be profitable or not.

Competition prices: you’ll also need to take a look at the prices being advertised by the competition. If you see that they are lower than yours, it logically wouldn’t be worth bidding for that product for our Google Shopping campaign. But regarding final prices, they are often not the same as those that are initially seen by the customer, which might cause a rebound in your favour.

Number of advertisers: with all Google Shopping results you can also see the competition bidding for similar words to the ones you want to use. If in doubt, always go for the products that less advertisers have, so you will have higher chances of getting sales.

Quality of advertisers: finally, another point to remember is what kind of competitors your ads are going to have. If the results include large well-known stores, it is very unlikely that you’ll be able to attract sales, so we suggest not wasting your time and investment on those particular products.

Choose the products you are going to sell based on the competition

This second trick is very much related to what we mentioned in the previous section. The competition and the market study that we did will be key in terms of choosing which products we plan on selling through Google Shopping and whether or not they will have potential future sales. Choosing a good data feed from Google Shopping will be essential for getting good results.

Establish your keywords for the products

Once we have done our selection, it’s time to correctly optimise the Google Shopping campaign to appear in the maximum possible number of searches.

To do this you first need to determine what are the most appropriate keywords in order for prospective buyers to find your product in Google Shopping, and adapt them to the main descriptive texts, which are the title and description.

If you write the keywords in the title and description, your product will show up in searches. But if you really want to attract clicks and potential sales, you also have to be creative with the texts as well as the images.

For example, we can compare these two results when searching with “buy headphones” in Google:

Take a good look at the two results, which one would you use? But above all you should ask yourself why. Taking all this into account you can then ask yourself the following questions before writing the titles and descriptions:

Is the image of my product attractive as well as descriptive?

Does the title of my product reflect what the product is? (“Metal Headset with mic” vs “JBL by Harman T-110 black”)

Does the description provide useful and comprehensible information even if it is technical?

And finally, can my PVP compete with my competitors?

Fill in the data feed

The more complete the information your campaign has about the products, the more likely it is that you will appear in the Google Shopping results. At a minimum, the following information must be completed in detail:

Title

Description

Link to where the product is

Condition (new, second-hand…)

Price

Availability

Brand

Unique product identifier or GTIN.

Get positive opinions

Another very differentiating element that can be important when it comes to generating sales is the use of reviews and positive opinions about our products. It is important to keep that in mind in our Google Shopping campaigns.

A user will always trust those products that have already been tested by other users rather than the product information itself, so it is advisable to encourage your customers to positively rate their experience with your online store.

Adjust bids based on days and hours

A common mistake is to create our Google Shopping campaign, set it to go out every day at all hours but then forget to manage it. It is important to see our user’s buying trends, especially the days and times when they buy from us so that we can adjust our campaign to emphasise those moments of the day and week which show the most activity.

According to studies, one of the most productive parts of the week is on Sunday afternoons, especially in winter, since in summertime consumers usually like to be out of their homes. Working days during the week up until lunch time are also peak times.

Analyse the results and try again

Before we start analysing, we recommend letting the first version of the campaign run for at least one week in order to see how it works each day, unless we notice a serious problem which we would have to sort out immediately.

Of course, none of the above will help if we launch our Google Shopping campaign and then fail to analyse the results. Logic often doesn’t work when it comes to figuring out why the results were not as we had hoped for. It’ll be up to us to think about, observe and analyse everything we did and the reasons why we believe it didn’t work well and then to have another go at it.

If you follow all our advice you’ll have a great chance of success with Google Shopping,…..so go for it!

Are you on Google Shopping? If you own an ecommerce, Google Shopping is a great tool. It can help you achieve great revenue if you know how to use it.

As we discussed in the article on how to set up your Google Shopping campaign and differentiate yourself from the competition, the keys to sell on this platform are not related to the amount of products you put on sale, but with what items you decide to add to your Google Shopping feed and above all, how you publish them.

Once you know the most important points for launching a successful Google Shopping campaign, it’s time to get into more detail on one of these points, by selecting the products we want to put on sale. What do I have to do so that my Google Shopping feed is as attractive as other similar ones? Don’t forget the following 6 key points.

Take care of the images and texts

We’ll never get tired of repeating it. On the internet users can not touch your products or look at them closely. On the internet the difference between a sale and a simple visit is to a large extent in the images and descriptive texts of the products. It’s very simple, before you upload a photo of a product you just have to think to yourself: “Would I buy this?”

The space that Google Shopping offers for images is also very important, so use it well.

Another important tip: be descriptive. Write and publish all the details that make your product a must for your target audience. Users often do not finish making a purchase because the characteristics of what they are going to buy are not completely clear. Add technical data, materials, uses, colours, versions … all the pieces of information you can post will help promote trust in your product and encourage its purchase.
Google Shopping is improving more and more and allows you to add all kinds of data, such as prices by size in the following example. Do this with your products!

Select products with a good profit margin

As you may have seen, many competitors in Google Shopping struggle to monopolise the market by selling lots of products with very slim margins. We recommend thinking things through a little before getting started and going instead for the opposite strategy: to only sell products that allow you to play with the profit margin more or less freely.

The goal is to have a satisfactory pricing strategy through temporary discounts and incentives such as free shipping or cross-selling.

Also, if you think about it, within the profit margin of a product you have to include the investment in Google Shopping itself, that you will have to continue paying out until the user decides to buy your product. If you only bid on items with very slim margins, you may eventually lose money on every sale.

Maximise the differentiating elements

Price isn’t everything for consumers. Of course this is an essential element but there are other details that are differentiators and can be key to getting a sale.

Before posting a product in your Google Shopping feed, think about whether you can highlight and enhance the elements that differentiate it from others. Even if the competition has products with the same characteristics as yours, see how they are advertising it and take advantage of the information they omit.

Colours, sizes, new features, materials, accessories, all these characteristics might create the interest to purchase in a consumer, so do not forget to publish information about the product even if you think it may be irrelevant.

Analyse the next one you see. Why is only one knife shown when the set for sale has two? The advertiser is not making the most of everything he can offer with regard to his product:

Choose items with few advertisers

This advice has already been offered in the article on differentiating our Google Shopping campaigns from those of the competition, but it bears repeating. If you do a search for products like the ones you are going to put on sale, you can see the number and type of advertisers that are already bidding for each one of these products in Google listings.
Make a study of how many other stores are selling these products. If you see a huge amount of competition then opt for products with fewer advertisers, you will get more chances to close sales, and you can even start with the second point of this article, having the chance to play with your profit margins a little.

Focus on micro-niches and original products

Another of the great truths about the chances of success for small or medium -sized e-commerce sites is that it is better to focus on selling products for small, specific niches than to try and become the new El Corte Inglés.

If in doubt about what products to sell in your Google Shopping feed, decide on those which can meet the needs of a very specific set of people, as well as those which can draw attention due to their practicality, such as the original gifts from BigBuy. Even if the market is smaller, you’ll have much more chances of being seen and as a result, selling, than if you focus on what is being sold to everyone.

Don’t try to be David against Goliath

Very much related to the previous point, is what happens if you try to sell very standard products in your Google Shopping feed. This will harm your chances not only because of the large amount of advertisers selling the same thing, but also because the big stores are likely to have them on sale too.

The online consumer bases their acquisition of products over the internet on confidence and unfortunately for a small online business, a well-known and prestigious brand and store will produce that feeling more readily. As we said earlier, do not attempt to be David against Goliath and instead go for those products that have fewer advertisers, especially among the large stores.

As you can see, there are many methods and strategies for achieving sales; you just have to plan well in terms of what products you are going to put on your Google Shopping feed, and above all to know how to get the most out of them.

We look forward to your comments and any questions or contributions you might have!
