How product synchronisation works between my store and BigBuy

The following article explains in detail how the synchronisation works between your e-commerce store and BigBuy.

Fluid Content Management

You’ll be able to access your Prestashop store (products, images, stock), fully synchronised with BigBuy, on a daily basis and with no worries. Synchronisation is installed and configured by us. Once installed, you’ll enjoy fast and flowing access to your store.

How does it work?

Synchronisation is performed automatically every 30 minutes (on the hour and half past the hour), and updates the following parameters:

  • Products
  • When the product is created
  • Reference number and EAN.
  • Price: Wholesale Price (WSP) and Retail Price (RP).
  • Categories: Default category and associated categories.
  • Images.
  • Combinations and attributes.
  • Texts: Title, description, friendly URL.
  • Dimensions and weight.
  • Status: Activated or deactivated.
  • Stock.
  • Supplier and manufacturer.
  • Updated once the product is available
  • Wholesale Price (WSP).
  • Stock.
  • Status: Activated or deactivated  (As long as it hasn’t been deactivated in accordance with the manual, or its default category is not synchronised)
  • Supplier and manufacturer.
  • Categories: Default category and associated categories. (In case BigBuy changes it)
  • Categories
  • When the category is created and updated:
  • We design our category tree.
  • Status with regard to BigBuy: Activated or deactivated.
  • Texts: Title and friendly URL. (You can specify not to update these fields in the synchronisation)
  • Manufacturers
  • When the manufacturer creates and updates it:
  • Text: Name.
  • Status: Activated or deactivated

How do I deactivate a product that I am not interested in selling?

If you want to disable one or more articles, you can do it using the information in this article.

If you wish, you can disable the synchronisation of a category and all products whose default category is disabled. If you want to make use of this option, send us an email and we’ll do it for you.

Can I change the name of the categories?

Yes. You can create categories, edit them and delete them. You can find all the information about categories here.

 

Can I sell products other than those of BigBuy?

Yes, the references numbers for our products start with “BB _” and are associated with the BB supplier. You can also add items that do not have the prefix “BB _” in the reference number and are not associated with the BB supplier. This way the synchronisation will only affect our products.

Indexing products for Prestashop’s search engine

Every 2 hours the new products are indexed for the Prestashop search engine to find them.

At night there is a complete indexing of the entire catalogue. In this article you will find out how to do manual indexing.

 

IMPORTANT

Synchronisation is installed based on a version of Prestashop and certain specific modules. If you update the version or change the modules, the template might get messed up or block Prestashop and stop it from working properly.

 

  • Make some backup copies, or if you don’t have the technical knowledge, get in touch with us and we can take care of it.
  • Do not update your Prestashop version.
  • Do not change the size of the images in your control panel.
