How are the prices in my online store calculated?

In the following article we explain how one of, if not the most important parts of our online shop is calculated: the prices. We do it from the ‘Pricing’ section of the store.

Go into your online store control panel and find a product file. In the ‘Pricing’ tab you’ll be able to find all the information needed relating to the cost and pricing of that product.

You’ll see the following fields:

  • Wholesale price without VAT: The initial price when putting the product on BigBuy (without VAT).
  • Sale price without VAT: The wholesale price of the product (without VAT).
  • Sale price with VAT: The wholesale price of the product with taxes included.
  • Specific prices: Here you can set rules on discounting the product according to the number of products sold (at the moment you can only add this to one product. In the future you’ll be able to add discounts based on quantity). This discount is shown in the online shop as well as on the product file and listings.

Now that we’ve covered the different values in the product file, we’ll go over calculation of the final price that is shown to your online store clients. It is calculated using the following formula:

  • Sales price with VAT – Discount = Sales price in online shop

The profit made from the sale of a product is calculated using the following formula:

  • Online shop sales price / (1 + VAT/100) – Wholesale price without VAT = Profit

One thing to take into account is that all taxes have been excluded in calculating the profit. This is how we can easily calculate the price of products that we present online.
